The route of Gdańsk beers – a visit to local breweries

PROGRAM: We will start the trip next to the Gdańsk Central Railway Station. Discussing the history of the city briefly, we will go to the first brewery. It is a place where brewers resurrected the Jopen beer, which was a Gdańsk specialty produced at least since 1449. It was brewed by the well-known Gdańsk astronomer – Jan Heweliusz. The brewery has different types of beer: Pils, Munich, Oldgdańsk style, Dark beer, Wheat beer, Witbier, etc. As part of the tasting, 4 types of 150 ml beers await us with a board of delicacies. We will also learn a few things about brewing beer and we will do sightseeing of the brewery.

Later we will go towards the Royal Route and go to where the Polish kings used to stay while visiting Gdańsk (the Upland Gate, the Golden Gate, the tenement houses on Długa Street, the Town Hall, the Neptune’s fountain, the Green Gate).

We will go to Piwna street (which in direct translation means – Beer street), where the next tasting will be waiting for us. This time we will try 3 types of beers of 400 ml. The beer served here is produced on the spot, fresh, unfiltered, unpasteurized, served straight from the tanks. We will also learn a few beer curiosities related to the local production of the golden beverage.

At the very end we will go through the Green Bridge (marina, Island of Granaries) to the last brewery. A portion of 3 beers of 125ml will be waiting for us at this place. The following Gdańsk beers are brewed here: Złoto Browarni (Gold of the Brewery), Oldgdańsk style and Wheat beer. All beer types are natural and without preservatives. During the tasting a short presentation will take place. Our trip will end here, however, those who are hungry for Gdańsk flavors can of course continue it, individually. 🙂
